The "Thank-You-America" Certificate
My father was issued the above certificate of appreciation by the French Government.
The certificate is meant to express the gratitude of the French people to the members of the United States Armed Forces who participated in the Normandy landing and liberation of France, on French territory and in French territorial waters and airspace, between June 6, 1944 and May 8, 1945.
Any living veteran of this conflict could apply for the certificate. The program seems to have ceased as there is no longer a link on the Embassy website.
